Centrally located in the heart of the Midwest, Lake of the Ozarks is an ideal location for industry, manufacturing, retail, entrepreneurial endeavors, tourism and retirement.  The diverse area has an excellent business environment with a focus on economic development at the Lake of the Ozarks . Lake of the Ozarks has experienced tremendous growth and development over the last 20 years and now boasts a population of more than 124,886 permanent residents and a thriving tourism industry. The popularity of the Lake of the Ozarks region is accentuated by its central location in Missouri, and that it is equal distance from the state’s largest population centers of St. Louis and Kansas City. Lake Area Chamber of Commerce The Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is a wonderful private, nonprofit, membership-driven organization comprised of nearly 600 business enterprises, civic organizations, educational institutions and individuals. Lake of the Ozarks to be featured on 'Family Travel with Colleen Kelly'

A National Public Television series airing in 90% of the Country!  CHICAGO: "Family Travel with Colleen Kelly,” a popular National Public Television series, will feature the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, highlighting the outdoor adventure, water activities, shopping, dining and attractions that make the area a great family vacation destination. The Lake of the Ozarks episode will be part of the show's season two lineup. The show's host, Colleen Kelly, and the crew will spend time throughout the Lake of the Ozarks area July 15-17, shooting segments at Ha Ha Tonka State Park, Bridal Cave and Thunder Mountain Park and Captain Ron’s Bar and Grill. The Lake of the Ozarks Regional Economic Development Council would like to thank all of our current and former members of the United States Armed Forces this Memorial Day weekend.  Memorial day is a solemn occasion as we think of the many men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives for our great county. The history of Memorial Day Three years after the Civil War ended, on May 5, 1868, the head of an organization of Union veterans — the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) — established Decoration Day as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the war dead with flowers. Maj. Gen. John A. Logan declared that Decoration Day should be observed on May 30. It is believed that date was chosen because flowers would be in bloom all over the country.
