Lake of the Ozarks on Family Travel with Colleen Kelly
The Lake of the Ozarks episode of "Family Travel with Colleen Kelly" is set to premiere in Chicago on Saturday, May 16 and in other parts of the country throughout May! Here's a sneak peak at what you can expect in the exciting new episode about our home, the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks:
Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park
Rated one of the most scenic caves in America, Bridal Cave is a family adventure you'll never forget! Guided tours leave every few minutes and last approximately one hour. Park interpreters will lead you and your family through a refreshing 60 defree environment, with room after room of incredible mineral deposits. Giant columns, delicate soda straws and massive draperies abound throughout the cave. Millions of years of struggle between water and rock have created this cavern with more onyx formations than any other known cave or cavern.
Gypsy Rose Pirate Ship
Captain Ron's Lakefront Bar and Grill offers pirate ship cruises, fun for the entire family! The Gypsy Rose set sail in May 2013 and is available all summer long for some high seas adventures. Their very own pirates will entertain you for some fantastic treasure hunts on Cannonball Beach. Pirate ship cruises are perfect for birthday parties, private groups and more! So come lay out on the beach with the kids, hang out at one of the tiki bars, enjoy the wonderful food and entertainment, but most of all, relax, it’s what the Lake of the Ozarks is all about!
Fishing at Lake of the Ozarks
With more than 1,150 miles of shoreline and 54,000 surface acres, plus rock bluffs, mud flats, gravel bars, coves, creeks, docks and crappie beds, it's no wonder anglers across America are hooked on fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks. The Lake is loaded with a variety of fish species: largemouth bass, spotted bass, black and white crappie, blue catfish, channel catfish, flathead catfish, white bass, hybrid stripers, paddlefish, walleye and bluegill. Every angler has his or her preferences for rods, reels and bait, but one thing all fishermen can agree on is the fantastic year-round fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks.
