The Lowdown on LOREDC - What All We Really Do!

While a lot of people have heard of the Lake of the Ozarks Regional Economic Development Council, some people don’t know what all we really do. The Lake of the Ozarks is a unique area with incredible quality of life attributes and scenic beauty, located over several counties and made up of numerous medium to small size towns. It is impossible to showcase all the advantages this area has the offer without being able to market it in a cohesive manner that includes all of the counties and towns involved. LOREDC helps with that in some very specific ways. We offer resources, provide studies, participate in partnerships, and much more, to help meet the economic needs of the Lake of the Ozarks area. If you’d like to know more about the kind of resources, information and assistance available to entrepreneurs thinking about making the move to the lake, today’s blog has the lowdown for you.

We Are Your Liaison to the Lake of the Ozarks Community.

LOREDC was formed to employ a regional approach to marketing the lake area and to promote all the advantages there are for potential business and industries to locate here. It consists of communities within a three-county region in Central Missouri – Camden, Miller, and Morgan. LOREDC encourages economic development by providing organization and program development, motivation, coordination, and evaluation of community projects, programs and resources. We have the responsibility of determining the major areas of concern, reviewing community resources, setting goals and priorities, and developing the necessary volunteer committees to carry out our purpose.

We Provide Resources

On our website you will find a diverse array of resources and information you will need when considering establishing your business at Lake of the Ozarks. We have information about site selection including maps of available commercial properties for sale at Lake of the Ozarks, and information on a variety of financial and tax incentives for locating your business at Lake of the Ozarks. We also have information about infrastructure like utilities, internet services, workforce availability and more. We have insight about what attracts people to the lake area to work, live, and conduct business which also includes information on quality of life attributes, recreational opportunities, local schools, and available healthcare options. In addition, you can access documents in our archives including the 2020 Demographic Profile and the Entrepreneurship Assessment Survey. One of the biggest and most recent studies is the 2022 Lake of the Ozarks Housing Study which takes an in-depth look at housing conditions in our three counties and exactly what the immediate needs are and what we anticipate going forward.

We are Always at Work

In addition to all these resources, we have a very active organization that is working hard to provide the resources and information needed by businesses and industries to move to Lake of the Ozarks. One example is the Workforce Ready Communities Initiative. The purpose of the initiative is to essentially create a bridge between individuals in the workforce and employers. This is done by understanding the needs of employers and sharing those with those who provide training to the workforce. That way as young adults are entering the workforce, they can know they have the training required to get the job they are looking for, and employers know that the person they’re hiring has the skills and qualifications needed for the job. Another major project that we are involved in is the Next Site Partnership with Ameren UE. That partnership is an investment that gives us access to demographics about people who shop in our area, and people in other areas who are like those who visit or shop in our area. It allows businesses to market much more specifically and strategically, and it is a powerful tool that the towns in our region have access to because of this partnership.
